Halifax Swing Exchange 2014 MC

The Dalhousie Swing Dance Society has graciously asked me to MC  their now annual Halifax Swing Exchange of 2014.

This is a weekend all Halifax dancers anticipate and I remember my first glimpse of this event.  It was magic on steroids.  The sound of a live band with east coast swing dance, Lindy hop , the charleston, the shim sham, Doin the Jive, and the recently included Jack and Jill competition brings a whole new meaning to the world of jazz music in the 2010s!

Check out the exchange here and don't forget to buy tickets.

Bluemouthinc. is a collective performance group who came to Halifax for the Magnetic North Festival 2014.  They tour a show called "Dance Marathon" where they use local dancers, teach them chorepraghy and plant them in the show.  It is extremely well done and works with the community in such a way as to create an environment that stems from the communities own unique energy.

Being a part of Halifax Dance Marathon was an amazing experience and taught me a lot about what it really means to interact and experience with an audience.

This musical addresses the issues that teens in the late nineteenth century Germany expierenced in regards to sexuality and maturity.  Throughout the duration of the musical these teens assume contemporary roles only while singing.  An artistic way to jump from the restraints these teens expierenced to the more expressive honesty that modern teens have now.
