— I aM —

I bring my first profession’s study of communication and cultural meaning as an American Sign Language Interpreter to the mindful art of holding space for the stories and compelling narratives of others. Over the last decade, I have worked and collaborated across radio, film and teleivision, digital media and essays using the medium of creative writing and narrative storytelling as my primary approach.
My work and interests are the stories within the story: culture, inherited damage, courage, the disempowered, and the things we have learned to keep quiet. -
I believe a project tells you what form it needs to take.
Sometimes that means an essay. Sometimes a documentary, a conversation, a photograph, a film or a book.
My job is to listen closely enough to discover the form, and then stay with the work long enough to bring it into it’s fullest form.

I am a foodie, and I adore good food. I am moved by how culture, tastes, seasons, and texture all come together on a plate. I am so thankful that I live in a province of diverse cultures, tastes, and opportunities for the palate.
