Reads | Winter 2026

*The final push to complete my master’s ultimately led to a pause in much of my reading, but three books in various stages of progress did get completed over the break.

Fourth Wing | Rebecca Yarros

I bought this copy at a local bookstore, Good Dog Books, during an autumn road trip and pulled it out over the holidays to escape the upcoming final semester of school and the typical Christmas chaos. Fourth Wing is exactly what a Romantasy should be. It's fantastical in its world, riveting in its character and plot development, and completely escapist. I’ll read the second installment when I need another escape.

Thinking Like Your Editor | Susan Rabiner

Based on the number of pages I tabbed, this book will live on my bookshelf as a reference for all time. A compact book, with reminders for every writer.

Emily of New Moon | L.M. Montgomery

I don’t remember reading Emily of New Moon in my childhood, but I do remember the television series that aired on CBC during my ninth year, and I fell in love with her dark, moody character. It was enjoyable to revisit her with my pre-teen through chapter-by-chapter readings.
