Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones | Bose

I caved. After years of my partner swearing by his noise-cancelling headphones and finally using his older set for meditation and high-focus writing, I figured it was time for me to invest in my own pair. If the only reason I bought these was to use them for focusing on my book writing and university assignments, they would be worth it. However, they have become a staple in my daily activities, even if only to help me reset my nervous system through a meditation playlist, etc.
*I invest in one item for my office or work life a year. This wasn’t the plan. But this usurped whatever it was going to be.

Palazzo Pant | Luluemon

I fell in love with these pants from Lululemon as soon as I laid eyes on them. The way they hug the waist and bum area while flaring out in comfort from there has me wanting to purchase more. Will pace myself. However, I can assure you that they are as comfortable and of high quality as they appear.
*I have paired it with Blazor and it serves.

Bubbly Soy Candle | Alben Lane

I have done my best to stop buying candles that are not locally produced or Canadian and not made with soy. I admit I have caved off and on, but Alben Lane makes it easy to keep to my values. Bubbly reminds me of the first time I purchased ‘Champagne Toast’ from Bath Body Works and currently sits on my desk during my birthday month, Mother’s Day and all the celebrations that May brings.

Holy Hurt by Hillary McBride | Hillary L. McBride

Hillary continues to write and create beautiful places for women and others who have grappled with what it means to recognize that one has been seperated from their mind, body and spirit and how to find alignment within all three without. This new book Holy Hurt is based on and a continuation of her podcast series Holy Hurt.

Orca Agate | Geologic in Toronto

Having a pre-teen who is deeply immersed in the hobby of collecting and learning about rocks and minerals, it seemed only right that we visit a store that sells and showcases a variety of stones, crystals, and rocks. My takeaway was this beautiful stone (mineral) from Madagascar, which resembles that of an Orca whale.

Slow Burn | Hobbry Puzzle at Indigo

I love supporting Hobbrys’ puzzles through Indigo. I don’t have the time to sit down and do one, but I do have the time to set one out and pick away at it over the months. This one was finished by a handful of preteens who puttered through my house. My daughter is the main culprit.

Charm Bracelet | Pandora

Admittedly, an indulgent gift to our pre-teen to celebrate her entry into the double digits. I had too much fun picking out her first three charms, which will hopefully be a fun experience for her to celebrate milestones and happenings in her life over the long term. I settled on her initial, a green gem to represent her birth month and an elephant to represent one of her most treasured items.
*I loved doing this for her so much, I realized that it’s I who wants a charm bracelet so bad—letting that desire sit until the new year.

Impossible á Aimer Vinyl by Coeur de Pirate | Bravo Musique

I don’t remember when I first heard Béatrice Mireille Martin, also known as Coeur De Pirate, but she was arresting from the first note. She marries old and new approaches to music within her vocals and style in a way that makes me weak in the knees.
Une Chanson Brisée is a favourite of mine.

Bug off Collection | Bloom Greenhouse & Garden Centre

This collection of plants was put in a shallow terra cotta bowl to ward off bugs. All plants that mosquitos and other pesky bugs don’t like. I liked the idea, and although I may buy these plants individually next year, I thought it made sense to give the collection a go.

White Leather Kids | Softmoc

Keds are my go-to shoes. Over spring, I picked up this pair for work days while in the house and using my standing desk.

Glossier You | Gift from the best friend

Sweetly given upon her arrival back to my province. On my first application, I was sent back to a time when the store JACOB used to be in Nova Scotia and how they would sell and give their fragrance. It was my favourite until the chain folded/moved out of every province. I remember being disappointed over it. This scent reminds me so much of that fragrance, and I love it.

Cannon 16 mm Lens | Birthday gift

The kit lens that came with my Cannon ER0S went with a 24 - 105 kit lens which, although significant, is a lot to tote around. This new lens captures a master-wide shot and gives a sense of intimacy. It provides a perspective that the other one can’t.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë | Chapters

Although I had a copy given to me years ago, it had baggage with the history of it. I decided this beautiful edition would be its replacement. I love the brush strokes and how it almost seems wet in appearance—art in its purest and raw form.

Anchor Paper Clip | Gift

A sweet gift from a friend away.

Pothos

As we wait for our music / reading room couch to arrive I thought a new plant for the bookshelf would be a great idea. After research, I thought we’d start with a Pothos. So far, so good.

Spring Soy Candles

I sprung for the Spring set from Okanagan Candle Co. I have been sad to wait for my favourite local soy candle maker to start production again, but supporting another Canadian business, despite the distance seemed like a smart idea. I love that this pack lets you try all the candles to decide which one is your favourite.

Secret Garden

A secret, yet not so secret if you know me well, is that I ADORE a good Korean Drama. No matter how kitchy they can be, there is something so sweet and lovely about sinking into a limited series that attempts to embrace the ‘love story’ concept in the format of a KD. This series remains the best I have ever watched. Originally I watched this in 2011 and this would be my third rewatch of the series.

Origins Toner

I finally have landed on a toner that fits my skin type and current needs.

The Ordinary Cleanser

A gift on my birthday, and let’s just say “I see the light” in regards to ‘The Ordinary’.

String of Pearls

A pick up from Bloom on a whim. Another lovely music / reading room additive.

On Grief and Grieving

A book I am studying for a project.

Checks and Balances Exfoliant

Another back to the basics product that I am highly in love with. Simple is best with me.

Indigo Pillow Covers

I adore having seasonal decor but in a minimal sense. Getting my hands on these pillow covers allows me to change up the look without investing in more pillows.

Pre School Workbooks

These workbooks along with the Kiwi Crate Co. were a blessed addition to our lives during the worst of the pandemic. Learning helped tire our preschool/grade primary ready kid out and helped her feel more confident daily.

Quote Squares

Knowing I like slipping words in the corners of my home, Jasmine smartly sent me these for my 31st. Any words from Maya Angelou are sure to shake you a little.

Rain Gear

In Nova Scotia, not having rain gear is absolutely ridiculous. I finally got rain boots (my old ones had bit the dust almost two years ago & invested in a high quality rain jacket.

Rhythms of Renewal

Listening to the author of this book in a podcast interview by happenstance as the pandemic restrictions hit made me order the book. Couldn’t be more perfectly timed.

1. Innisfree Masks 'bamboo'

Not crazy over mothers day, so these masks from Innis free fit the bill for me.  Some simple pleasures to enjoy during busy weeks.

2. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

I am savouring this book.  Knowing it was coming out as a film this year, I wanted to make sure I had read it before going to see the film.  Crazy Rich Asians is a deep dive into the various dynamics of the modern Chinese culture around the world.  It is deliciously descriptive, hilarious in it's delivery and so relatable to anyone who is remotely near or in the asian culture.  Cannot wait to see the film adaption!

3. Life Factory Water Bottle

Getting my H2O is more enjoyable when I am drinking through my 'bubbles'.  Easier to keep track.

4. Champagne Bubbles DW Home Candle

I typically enjoy having a small candle on my desk to light when I am working.  I replaced one that was emitting too much scent with this little one from Winners Homescense.  What I love most about it , is that it literally is amazing in the dark, showing lots of different bubbles.

5. Essie Coral Nail Polish

This colour added so much fun to my wardrobe this season.

6. Loreal Boho Babe Nail Polish

As much as I like a good shade, this nude colour is great for anything.

7. Saje Zap Toner

Never having toner I thought I would add this acne fighting toner to my repertoire.  Ever since stopping breast feeding last summer I have noticed my monthly hormones are less predictable.

8. White linen button shirt from Old Navy

This cheap linen shirt was all I needed to complete many outfits.  This is a staple I will always maintain in my wardrobe.
